Mom and I have spent most of yesterday and today clearing out a mealy moth infestation in our pantry! All the drygoods that were open had to go, and then everything that was sealed had to be washed in soapy water or wiped down with eucalyptus. All the shelves had to be scrubbed with the same mixture, and new lining paper put in. Anything mildly questionable - like pasta in cardboard boxes - was put in the freezer. Then everything went back in!

Mom did a lot of it. She doesn't really deal well with me directly underfoot, so I kept to tasks on the other end of the room and general affirming noises.

It was pretty distressing and stressful, but all taken care of now, and hopefully it won't happen again!

Oof, they can be quite pernicious. I had them get inside teabags once, which I only found out when... actually, it is too disgusting to even tell you how I found out!!

Also, they were able to get into the spiral of the lid of my flour jar - though not the jar itself - and die there, and the same for many of my spice jars. They're awful.
