The vet says Ginger's problems are probably kidneys, possibly a bladder infection, or maybe diabetes. Could be cancer, but after he palpated her he didn't mention that possibility again, so I guess he thinks it's unlikely. The bloodwork will come in tomorrow and he'll call us when he knows more.

So right now it's looking like it's treatable! Hurrah!
