I'm starting to be afraid that I attract accidents.

So a motorcycle ran me over yesterday.

Well, ran over is perhaps not quite the most accurate phrase, since it implies there was running over when it was really more of a "running into and knocking my bicycle down and I, of course, went over with the bicycle." But at least "ran me over" is fairly succinct.

Considering that I came away from the whole thing with bruises, one possibly wrenched shoulder, and a badly bent front wheel on my bike it's not that big a deal. I mean, after I got done cheerily reassuring the motorcyclist who'd run into me and was in an apologetic panic (which endeavor I was so thoroughly fixed on that I totally forgot to get his insurance information, thank you enculturation, thank you very much) I sat down on a wall outside a local attorney's office and sobbed desperately for ten minutes, but shock will do that! That's not what's sending up the suspicions.

What's making me worry that I may be newly irresistible to small disaster is that the week before this I had to call the fire department because my apartment had dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide in it, which threw my entire schedule off, because I consequently spent most of Sunday afternoon sick and had to be checked out by paramedics while firefighters checked all possible carbon monoxide sources and concluded it was my oven causing the problem. So, after they left, I went to bed early with all the windows open and a ridiculous number of blankets on my bed. And the week before that incident my bike actually fell apart, which hurt considerably.

So you can see why I'm beginning to be concerned. It would be nice to go a week without injury more significant than the random minor bruises I habitually inflict upon myself by accident.

Wow! I'm glad you weren't hurt worse than that. And surely three must be enough accidents in as many weeks...
