Last Saturday (not yesterday - the week before) Mom and I were wandering in and out of shops after lunch - it was my last day of spring break with her, so we were playing together. In one store, which was a mix of used things and new trinkets, Mom found erasers for her goddaughters and I poked around, finding full size reproductions of Carolina Parrots as drawn by John Audubon, which were pretty, but not in very good shape. We decided to check out the downstairs, which turned out to be nothing but old Christmas ornaments and assorted junk. I fell over a board that had been put in a doorway in place of a sill, at which point Mom lost all her (small) remaining store of enthusiasm for the experiment, even though I hadn't actually hurt myself, just came rather close. So back up we went.

There were pictures for sale hanging on the wall of the stairwell.

"Isn't that one of the pictures in the postcard book you bought from the Art Institute?" Mom said.

"Yeah," I said. "It's one of Charley Harper's designs - it's even cooler big, I hadn't... seen... It's signed, Mommy. It's a signed and numbered print."

"...Really?"

I stepped up and leaned closer. "Yup."

"You're right. It is."

We looked at each other. "She's barely charging anything for it," I said.

And so now I have a limited edition signed print of Charley Harper's Jumbrella. It was a present! It's so coooooooooooool.

Here's a link to an online image (it's considerably easier to read full size and in person).
