And, well, if you're going to bring up fandoms you haven't come back to for a while, I'm going to be extraordinarily predictable and say Denis Arilan and Thomas Cardiel? And maybe ethical religious/political plotting? Or the X/1999 girls? I've never found a Yuzuriha or Kotori who I like better than yours.
