tiamatschild: A painting of a woman in a chiton hanging washing on a line (Hanging the Washing Out to Dry)
I'm off to the coast in the morning!

I said to the nine year old cousin, "I'd like us to leave at nine fifteen tomorrow. Your sister's fine with that. Are you fine with that?"

Cousin goes nod nod nod.

My uncle says, "Ha! I've traveled with these women before. You'll be out of here by ten thirty."

"No," I said, "the girls have been really good. We might get out by nine twenty or even nine thirty, but we won't be very late."

"You'll be out of here by ten thirty," says my uncle. "I've traveled with these women before."

At which point I smiled the smile I think of as 'Leia promising Han a reward while thinking about kicking him in the head,' and said, "But you haven't traveled with me."

It's on now.

(Of course, the thing is that I was in fact thinking that if we get out of here by ten or ten thirty, that'd be just dandy with me, but now, um. Well, a little feeling sorry for my cousins probably wouldn't be misplaced. I'm a very gentle domestic tyrant, but a very firm one and they're not morning people.)
