tiamatschild: Painting of a woman dancing a circle dance - she is smiling, her hand outstreched (Woman in Blue Dancing)
So. I just hand caught and released a starling that had somehow gotten inside the house. (How? I honestly do not know. It must have come in one of the doors but I don't know when or how.) Its heart was beating so fast against my fingers, but once I had it it didn't fight me at all. It didn't even try to bite me. It just looked around while I held it, restraining its wings, and carried it to the door and outside.

When I let it go it didn't even drop the less than a quarter of an inch to the ground I'd given it - as soon as I no longer held its wings, it burst forward, wings snapping out, and flew in an arc across the street to the top of a tree.
